THE BIRTH OF MILANO TATTOO SCHOOL

THE ORIGINS: THE BIRTH OF THE STUDIO

To talk about the birth of Milano Tattoo School, we have to talk about its founders, Dimitri Daleno and Katia Polastri. In 2005, they co-founded Officina Studio (https://www.officinatattoo.com/studio/), putting all their passion and experience gained in tattoos and piercing into it.

It started with a small studio on Via Broggi in Milan, later expanding into a 1,300-square-foot location in Piazza Lima 3 with an even stronger team. Today, Officina Studio has expanded further with a second shop inside the Piazza Lima 3 commercial courtyard and a staff of 32 artists, including tattooists and piercers.

FIRST STEPS IN THE WORLD OF TRAINING

But let’s get to the birth of Milano Tattoo School. Historically, until 2010/2011, Lombardy had no regulations regarding the training of tattooists and piercers. During that period, Dimitri worked with the Region to develop a specific path, also based on the best practices of other Italian entities.

In 2011, the commitment to this project led to the birth of Milano Tattoo School and its 90-hour training course project, supported and promoted by an entity accredited by the Lombardy Region. This path aims to train tattooists and piercers, fully satisfying the knowledge and skill requirements set by the new profile issued by the Region and included in the Q.R.S.P. (Regional Framework of Professional Standards).

The course draws on numerous industry professionals and a faculty selected and prepared following a program designed to meet the real needs of operators and clients. The goal of Milano Tattoo School is to reduce and eliminate the proliferation of “DIY” tattooists and piercers who increase health risks from a hygienic/sanitary perspective.

Until 2014, a collaboration was active with accredited training schools for the development of this educational path. By the end of 2014, the school was ready to become independent and pursue its own accreditation.

THE BIRTH OF MILANO TATTOO SCHOOL

In 2015, M.T.S. (acronym for Milano Tattoo School) was born. It obtains accreditation for training and begins to personally offer training courses for tattoo artists and piercers.

With the idea of continuous development, Milano Tattoo School increases its training offerings with courses that combine hygienic/sanitary qualification with the basic technical skills necessary to begin this profession. This is how the 124-hour course for “Tattoo and Piercing Operator” was born. Its main characteristic is the increase in laboratory hours to provide greater knowledge of the specific skills of this professional figure.

Given the success and growth of the school, in January 2017, the school moved to its new headquarters at Via Garofalo 44 in Milan to improve the quality of the offering and the types of courses designed to explore every nuance of the tattoo world.

This is how the new Shop Manager and Tattoo Social Media courses were born, which are added to the traditional seminars and artistic training.
