{"id":5010,"date":"2023-09-22T08:06:22","date_gmt":"2023-09-22T06:06:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/mts.addlab.net\/who-you-cant-tattoo-and-when-its-not-recommended\/"},"modified":"2026-09-25T11:38:03","modified_gmt":"2026-09-25T09:38:03","slug":"who-you-cant-tattoo-and-when-its-not-recommended","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mts.addlab.net\/en\/who-you-cant-tattoo-and-when-its-not-recommended\/","title":{"rendered":"Who You Can&#8217;t Tattoo and When It&#8217;s Not Recommended"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For a tattoo artist, it&#8217;s important to know that <strong>not everyone can be tattooed<\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In fact, there are categories of clients for whom it is <strong>legally forbidden to get tattoos<\/strong>, and <strong>specific pathologies and conditions<\/strong> for which getting tattooed is highly unadvised.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Knowing all the situations where a <strong>tattoo is forbidden, contraindicated, or unadvised<\/strong> is fundamental for anyone who wants to practice as a tattoo artist. <\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Who Cannot Be Tattooed<\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As we mentioned, there are certain categories of people who <strong>cannot and should not be tattooed.<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Let&#8217;s start with age: according to Italian law, <strong>only adults<\/strong> can get tattooed, as they have reached full independence and freedom of choice.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Minors <strong>between 16 and 18 years old<\/strong> must have the <strong>consent of both parents<\/strong>, while <strong>under 16 years old<\/strong>, any type of tattoo is absolutely forbidden.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Another category of people for whom tattoos are forbidden are <strong>pregnant or breastfeeding women<\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The reason is simple: during pregnancy, a woman&#8217;s immune system is weaker and she may be more <strong>susceptible to infections<\/strong>. Furthermore, some pigments used in tattoos could be <strong>harmful to the baby<\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Another condition that prohibits tattooing is <strong>drug addiction<\/strong>: alcohol and drugs alter blood circulation, making tattoo healing complex. <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Finally, <strong>not all skin areas<\/strong> can be tattooed: <\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>areas that have undergone plastic surgery<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>areas with recent scars<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>areas that have undergone laser removal<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>areas tattooed less than 2 months ago <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>areas with a high presence of freckles and moles<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">When It&#8217;s Not Recommended to Tattoo a Client and Why<\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">After analyzing the conditions under which it is <strong>forbidden to perform tattoos<\/strong>, we will now focus on all situations where it is highly <strong>contraindicated or unadvised to proceed with a tattoo.<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In most cases, these are individuals with <strong>specific pathologies<\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For example, people with <strong>blood clotting disorders and a tendency to hemorrhage<\/strong> or who are taking <strong>chemotherapy drugs, anticoagulants, and immunosuppressants<\/strong>: these conditions can compromise wound healing and increase the risk of complications.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Even those with a history of <strong>allergic reactions to tattoo pigments<\/strong> should be careful: the chemicals present can cause skin irritation or even severe allergic reactions.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Another category of people to evaluate carefully before performing a tattoo is <strong>diabetics<\/strong>: due to reduced blood circulation and compromised immune system function typical of this disease,<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">the <strong>tattoo healing process can be slower and more complicated<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Furthermore, diabetics are more <strong>susceptible to infections<\/strong>, and the wounds caused by the needle during the procedure can become an entry point for bacteria or other pathogens.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A very similar situation applies to people suffering from <strong>hemophilia<\/strong>, who risk <strong>excessive bleeding<\/strong> during the tattooing process due to blood clotting problems.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The insertion of pigments into the skin through the needle can cause micro-lesions that could lead to prolonged bleeding and a high risk of infection.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Epilepsy<\/strong> is also a factor to check before tattooing a person: due to increased sensitivity to stimulation, the act of tattooing can trigger epileptic seizures in predisposed individuals.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Moreover, a tattoo can cause <strong>physical and emotional stress<\/strong>, which in turn can increase the likelihood of having an epileptic seizure. <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Tattooing <strong>people with hepatitis<\/strong> should also be carefully evaluated, due to slow wound healing and the high risk of infection caused by a compromised immune system due to the disease.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Then there are a whole series of <strong>skin alterations<\/strong> that make tattooing problematic and difficult, such as: <\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>albinism:<\/strong> tattoos can cause skin damage due to the lack of pigmentation and the high hypersensitivity associated with this condition<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>vitiligo<\/strong>: tattoos can make skin color differences even more noticeable and may not have the desired effect.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In both cases, already sensitive skin could <strong>react negatively to the pigments used in tattooing<\/strong>, causing long-term health problems.<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>MTS Tattoo Operator Course Prepares You to Recognize Who Not to Tattoo and When It&#8217;s Not Recommended<\/strong> <\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As we explained in this article, there are categories of people who are <strong>legally forbidden to tattoo<\/strong> and individuals for whom it is <strong>unadvised to proceed with a tattoo<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">These are <strong>fundamental notions<\/strong> for anyone who wants to pursue a career as a tattoo artist: those who lack this knowledge risk <strong>causing more or less serious harm to clients&#8217;
