Later, when the swelling from the first 10 days disappears, this must be replaced by <strong>shorter jewelry.<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-gallery has-nested-images columns-default is-cropped wp-block-gallery-1 is-layout-flex wp-block-gallery-is-layout-flex\">\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><a href=\"https:\/\/mts.addlab.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/Piercing-lingua-curiosita-dolore-guarigione-03.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" data-id=\"48272\" src=\"https:\/\/mts.addlab.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/Piercing-lingua-curiosita-dolore-guarigione-03.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-48272\"\/><\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><a href=\"https:\/\/mts.addlab.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/Piercing-lingua-curiosita-dolore-guarigione-02.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" data-id=\"48270\" src=\"https:\/\/mts.addlab.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/Piercing-lingua-curiosita-dolore-guarigione-02.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-48270\"\/><\/a><\/figure>\n<\/figure>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Tongue piercing: healing, aftercare, and potential issues <\/strong><\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Healing times for a tongue piercing are <strong>fairly fast<\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In the first 3 days post-piercing, there may be some<strong> discomfort while eating and speaking<\/strong> properly, while <strong>swelling (it doesn&#8217;t always swell,<\/strong> it varies from person to person) can last 3 days or slightly longer. <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The best way to quickly reduce swelling is to <strong>eat cold foods,<\/strong> ice cream and popsicles first and foremost, and <strong>avoid hot, spicy, and peppery dishes<\/strong> that could inflame the wound.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It is not unusual to feel a slight sensation of <strong>hypersensitivity, <\/strong>as well as mild pain, stinging, and tension for a few days. <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">There may also be <strong>lymphatic secretion<\/strong>, which is fluid leaking from the piercing; this is typical of any wound, not serious at all, and a sign of proper healing. <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Unlike other types of piercings, in this case it may be more noticeable because, being an oral area, it has no way to dry out and form a scab.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Tartar buildup <strong>on the tongue barbell<\/strong> is also quite common, especially on the bottom bead. In this case, simply brushing the barbell with a soft-bristled toothbrush is enough to return things to normal. <\/p>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Tongue piercing aftercare<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Obviously, when you get a Tongue Piercing, it is absolutely <strong>not recommended to smoke, drink alcohol, or chew gum,<\/strong> as they have an irritating effect that would prolong healing times.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Another tip is to <strong>rinse with a specific mouthwash<\/strong> and use a <strong>soft-bristled toothbrush<\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Additionally, it&#8217;s important to sleep with your <strong>head propped up on 3 pillows<\/strong> during the first few nights to encourage drainage and limit swelling.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As explained previously, when the swelling goes down, it&#8217;s important to replace the <strong>long barbell<\/strong> inserted at the time of piercing with <strong>shorter jewelry.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As with any type of piercing, there are some <strong>risks and complications<\/strong> associated with tongue piercing, such as damage to the oral cavity if a bar that is too long is kept in for too long.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Infections, on the other hand, are not that common if the <strong>mouth is kept clean,<\/strong> as it is a very protected area. <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To prevent the risk of infection, it&#8217;s best to maintain <strong>optimal oral hygiene<\/strong> and avoid constantly touching the <strong>piercing with your hands.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Finally, remember that piercings tend to have a series of <strong>ups and downs during healing<\/strong>, and the Tongue Piercing is no exception.
