Tattoo Artist Training Internships: MTS Collaborates with Leading Studios in the Lombardy Region

To obtain the Certification to work as a Tattoo Operator and independently manage and perform the profession of tattoo artist, in addition to the course of study, it is mandatory to complete a training internship.

Milano Tattoo School offers its students the opportunity to complete this training internship for tattoo artists at affiliated studios.

This is possible because, in 13 years of history and experience as a leading School in training tattoo operators, MTS has established solid collaborations with historic and renowned tattoo studios in Lombardy.

These partnerships allow us to share knowledge, innovations, and know-how with the aim of growing our sector and giving it more value.

Furthermore, they guarantee students direct access to mandatory training internships in Studios affiliated with MTS, to gain practical experience by working in a broad scene and challenging themselves with a diverse client base.

How are Tattoo Artist Internships Regulated?

Tattoo artist internships are regulated by specific regulations that establish the methods of execution and the required skills.

According to Regional Law No. 13 of July 23, 2021, interns must have completed the first 1000 mandatory hours of the 1500-hour total Tattoo Operator Course.

This first “step” allows them to:

  • acquire all the theoretical and practical knowledge and skills in the field of tattooing, under the supervision of experienced tattoo artists;
  • receive training on all necessary hygiene and sanitation requirements.

It is important for future tattoo artists to be aware of these standards when performing tattoos, to ensure the health and safety of people who wish to get tattooed.

Once this initial part of the program is completed, students must proceed with the training internship.

The duration of tattoo artist internships is 500 hours, during which interns can put into practice what they have learned during the course and test themselves in Studio management, actual work, and client interaction.

This is therefore the first real opportunity to practice as professional tattoo artists and, at the same time, an essential hands-on testing phase.

Once the internship is completed, tattoo artists can access the final exam to obtain the Regional Certification recognized throughout Italy and Europe.

After passing the exam, they will truly be ready to officially enter the workforce and start their own business.

Tattoo Artist Training Internships: The Importance of Practice for Tattooing

Practice in the field of tattooing is extremely important, which is why tattoo artist internships are so crucial.

First of all, it helps to improve technique, dexterity, skill, and precision in both drawing and applying tattoos to the skin.

Only with practice is it possible to learn to control needle depth, correctly manage tattoo machine pressure, understand colors, and perfectly execute lines, shading, and fills.

Secondly, it is advantageous for deeply understanding body shapes and skin variations, in order to best adapt the tattoo to each person.

Practical experience also strengthens knowledge regarding hygiene and safety and develops a profound ability to manage clients during the tattooing process.

Furthermore, the tattoo artist internship allows artists to grow professionally and establish themselves, develop their own unique style, and learn to best satisfy client requests and translate them into tattooed works of art.

Finally, the internship is an important opportunity to find work or create useful collaborations for the future: many MTS students have indeed been confirmed in the Studios where they completed their internships.

Milano Tattoo School: Network of Contacts and Job Opportunities for Tattoo Artists

The Milano Tattoo School guarantees all tattoo students the opportunity to complete their training internship at one of the many MTS Affiliated Studios present in Lombardy.

This experience, in addition to being mandatory, is very useful because it allows young tattoo artists to put acquired skills into practice, develop the ability to interact with clients, and manage different situations within a real work environment.

It also allows students who are about to complete their program to interact with great guest and resident artists from whom they can draw techniques and secrets, in a continuous exchange that develops their personal and professional growth.

Finally, it creates important career possibilities and opens doors to concrete job opportunities in the most renowned and historic Tattoo Studios, such as Officina Tattoo Studio by Dimitri Daleno and Katia Polastri, one of the most well-known studios in Milan.

Through the training internship, tattoo artists graduating from Milano Tattoo School can count on easy entry into the workforce to begin their professional careers.

The next Tattoo Operator course at Milano Tattoo & Piercing School starts on January 8, 2024, and spots are limited.
