True to the Line: (NOT JUST) Drawing Courses for Tattoo Artists

“Beauty is in the eye of the beholder,” sure, but it’s also in the hands of the tattoo artist. Indeed, because while the ability to draw can sometimes be a mere matter of talent, knowing how to reproduce a design on skin without cheapening the concept, the narrative, the nuances, and the context in which it was born is a whole different ball game—or rather, a different set of hands. At Milano Tattoo School, we haven’t forgotten the difficulties of being a beginner: finding the right design for the client, satisfying their requests in their style without compromising your own, but instead finding the exact formula that satisfies both the tattooed and the tattoo artist. It’s not easy, we know; we’ve been there too. That’s why instead of offering cliché drawing courses for tattoo artists we organize actual artistic training courses, divided based on your talent and the style you intend to specialize in.

Painting Course

With the Painting Course, even if we don’t turn you into a modern-day Leonardo da Vinci (though we’d always bet a dollar on it), we will teach you every detail regarding materials, priming, color theory, oil paints, tempera, acrylic, and all techniques for flat washes, blending, glazing, composition, shading, perspective, and sketching. Without neglecting detailed notions on how to draw from life, use stencils, create your own style in light of the main tattoo styles, and why not, emulate or simply take inspiration from the great masters*.

Freehand Drawing Layout Course

If you’ve declared war on stencils and made uniqueness your only creed, we recommend checking out the Freehand Drawing Layout Course, a workshop designed for those who want to do everything freehand but know well that freedom is a privilege worth working for.

Photoshop for Tattooing Course

If you’re a Xoil style addict, you should sign up for the Photoshop Course, which will allow you to explore the immense potential of a program that is actually very useful for many (potentially infinite?) tattoo styles. For those who were already writing the letter “g” perfectly in school notebooks at age 7, making 3/4 of the class jealous, there is the Calligraphy Course, where you can specialize in lettering and send love letters to whoever makes your heart race.

Drawing Layout on Paper Course

In case you don’t feel ready to move from the two-dimensionality of paper to the three-dimensionality of skin for any reason, don’t panic; in addition to providing you with the theoretical and practical basics, the Drawing Layout on Paper Course will give you the right push to take the big step. If, on the other hand, having reached this point, you still believe that what we offer are just simple drawing courses for tattoo artists, it’s neither your fault nor ours, but our copywriter’s. We, true to the line, are waiting for you at Milano Tattoo School in Milan at Via Garofalo 44. *Lessons on Leonardo da Vinci will not be held in 15th-century Florentine, but we’re working on it
